Paul Iscold, professor of UFMG, and the pilot Paul Bonhomme
Researchers at the Aviation Research Centre (ARC), the School of UFMG Engineering, are part of the team that has just won the world championship Red Bull Air Race competition where aircraft reach speeds of up to 360 km / h at low altitude.

The aircraft is flown by Britain's Paul Bonhomme and came second in the final round, which was held in Las Vegas (USA). The team got the highest score of the year in the competition.

The group is coordinated by Professor Paulo Iscold, Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has been involved since 2008 with the competition Red Bull. In 2010, he and his team have joined the Bonhomme team.

The project encompasses two main objectives: promoting improvements to enhance aerodynamics and speed of the aircraft; Optimizing the aircraft trajectories. This entire process relies on the help and collaboration of course aerodynamic engineering students.

The initiative as a whole has been consecrated, and the plane has gained awards in other competitions, including competitions held in Brazil.

  1. It's great to know that our school is part of a medium in which people are increasingly looking to research and carry out projects that have changed and improved our lives. This, in case it is a very interesting project because home again, more people are walking by plane.

the project is very amazing because the championship aircraft is a bigger event and the engineers of ufmg participated.Other reason is promoting improvements to enhance aerodynamics and speed of the aircraft.
