Music is a huge part of our daily life. It has the power to influence on people’s humor and keep up with all age ranges. Certainly, it’s possible to fit, in every situation of our daily life, at least one song that describes our emotional states, or maybe, one that we just simply identify with.
Taking into consideration the environment that becomes happy and relaxed, due to the music, some students of COLTEC/UFMG come up with “Senta & Toca”. It is a monthly event that has for it’s principles to encourage and give the opportunity to people who like to sing and play instruments or even dance. “Senta & Toca” happens on Thursdays at COLTEC’s cafeteria on students and employees lunch break. It is free and allows anyone who wants to make music to participate.
“Senta & Toca” first started as Coltequinta, it was a space for students where they showed all kinds of art, not just music. Over time, Coltequinta started to get a little discouraged and eventually stopped. In 2008, the guild Melão, brought back the event, this time, however, with a different name and also the proposal: a space for music. At that time, the school had many bands that have played there in festivals, and Senta & Toca made the frequency increase.
Nowadays, the event takes place once a month, Thursdays. Organized by the current management of the student body, it brings together students from all years and employees in an atmosphere of relaxation and mood.

The Senta & Toca is one of the bests events in COLTEC, the event brings emotion and fun to our days, and is very interesting to know about the start.
